Current outlook on everything..

Non-happy aspects :

2 1/2 weeks until Waterford. No accommodation booked. Not looking forward to it. Don’t care.
Another of my friends is disappearing off to America fairly soon, for good.

Happier aspects:

I’m doing much more this year. Went to archery for the first time yesterday, dragged Niall along with me, we both loved it. Also part of the Mountain Biking club. Went to go on the first cycle on Sunday, but failed miserably when I tried to find any of the group, so, this weekend I’m hoping I’ll manage to find them.

I’m finally making an effort to do things other than sitting around on my ass all day. So far, its working. Considering two of my main friends will be off on co-op after January, I’ll hopefully manage to make some new friends. However, thanks to my time in Waterford i’ll miss out on a month of archery, but at least i’ll be able to keep up the moutain biking when i’m home at the weekend.

Dublin

Spent the day in Dublin yesterday with Aisling and Hazel. Wonderful day.

For starters we absolutely raped Brown Thomas with Hazels discount. We were also highly amused by the waa-tastic, Ugg boot wearing, D4’s. They also seem to think back-combed ghd’d hair is the shit. I would go to Dublin again just to listen to them talking. There is no understating just how many of them there were.

I left Ais and Zol to go for lunch with a friend. Nice to see people away from irc every now and again.

When I rejoined Ais and Hazel we got on the LUAS and went out to Dundrum shopping centre. That one place puts Limerick, in its entirety, to absolute shame. It has almost everything. Its like an indoor Grafton St. Granted I wouldn’t usually be mad for shopping, but I needed so much stuff that I was actually enthusiastic about it.

After two luas trips we arrived back in Heuston to get on our train home. Or at least thats what we thought. No no.. Iarnrod Éireann decided to do some Engineering work on the line. So, a huge group of us were herded onto buses bound for Port Laoise. When we finally arrived in Port Laoise we sat on a train, completely stationary, for over half an hour. Thankfully it was a short enough journey to the hole that is Limerick Junction. We then boarded the blood powered carriage back to Limerick.

Despite the train mishap, all in all, it was a great day.

1 week to go..

I’m about to start my 4th and final week of placement before returning to UL. Its been an ok 3 weeks. The ward i’m on is very routine and can get a bit boring. It doesn’t bother me in the slightest, but, its amusing to note that after 3 weeks of working with some midwives i’m still being called ‘Colette’ and ‘Olive’. Due to sick time taken on Friday i’ll unfortunately have to work 4-5 extra hours this week. That is if they’ll allow me to make up my time this placement.

Lily and Tommy took me out to Unigolf yesterday along with John and Tommy’s dad Denis. It was nice, turns out i’m not too bad at golf. There was however many distractions. Previously living, stuffed animals decorated the place. Anything from ducks and pheasants to Bears and foxes. John assured me they all died by accident.

On another note, I got to see my twin cousins receiving their PhD’s last week. It was a really nice ceremony, very much worth going to. And a bit of motivation for myself to do well. I’m currently considering my options for once I finish midwifery.

Looking forward to going back to UL. This week can’t go fast enough.
