December
Coming to the end of 2008. The year is finally starting to take a turn for the better. 11 months too late at this stage. Bring on Christmas.
I’ve left it too long since I last said anything really. Continueing on from stuff I said in my last post. I did, in fact, get my FYP proposal in. It did mean losing a lot of sleep for the 2 days before hand, though. Topic turned out to be quite interesting, i’m looking into why women arn’t allowed eat during labour and if it’s justified. It’s currently reading week in college, so really the week I should be studying. Thanks to the before Christmas sales I was working yesterday and will be today, so hopefully i’ll get a day or two off this week to get stuck into my Law module, exam is on monday. Thankfully I only have 3 exams this semester due to lots of assignments etc.
Starting the last week in January i’m going to be on 14 weeks of placement. It starts off reasonably well, 3 weeks post natal, 3 weeks labour ward (:D) and unfortunately, 2 weeks gynaecology. This same ward asked my coursemate if she knew what a stethoscope was… I’m not sure i’ll be able to be as polite as she was if i’m asked things like that. Following that i’ll be off for 2 weeks, so, i’ll try and organise something nice to do for then. I’ll be encorporating an awful lot of sleep into that schedule probably.
I got my yearly bout of horrendous sickness last month. A lovely sinus infection, which had me crying several nights in pain. Along with that I got severe hand pain when I was exposed to anything colder than the heat from the fire, and, to top it off, I was constantly dizzy/stumbly. I managed to look like a drunk for about 2 weeks. Another course of antibiotics thrown my way anyway and the infection is gone. It’s been 3 weeks and I still have a nice cold but i’ll gladly take that over another infection. I now carry vitamins around with me.
Enjoying the cold weather we’re getting at the moment. Waking up to frost is lovely, if you take the cold aspect out of it. On the train on the way home from Dublin last weekend, the whole countryside just looked amazing, It’s the only weather than can make Ireland look that different.
Anyway, a week of work, and hopefully study ahead of me. In 3 weeks time i’ll be free until the end of January. Guess I should make the effort now and sleep later. I need to improve on my organisation skills.
